  • On September 12, 2007, The Sorenson Legacy Foundation donated $6 million to the University of Utah's David Eccles School of Business to create an interdisciplinary center for the study of discovery and innovation in human progress and economic development. The center will take a multidisciplinary, collaborative approach to tap into the undeveloped creative potential of faculty, students and citizens in ways that enrich the entire community. full story


  • On July 10, 2007, The Sorenson Group of Real Estate Companies, title sponsor of the Sorenson Champions Challenge charity celebrity golf tournament, announced the beneficiaries of this year's event would be two non-profit educational organizations: Art Works for Kids, of Salt Lake City, and American Indian Services, of Provo, Utah. full story


  • On April 5, 2007, the Sorenson Legacy Foundation donated an additional $1 million to Gallaudet University to help complete the James Lee Sorenson Language and Communication Center. The additional contribution brings to $4 million the total amount the Sorenson Legacy Foundation has contributed to Gallaudet for the center, which will be devoted to deaf people's language, culture, history and community.

  • On Sept. 30, 2006, the Sorenson Legacy Foundation donated $150,000 to help found a College of Health Professionals for the Western Governors University, a non-profit, online school. The new college is designed to serve adults already employed in the healthcare industry who may not be able to attend a traditional university while they are working.

  • On April 26, 2006, Beverley Taylor Sorenson donated $1.5 million to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah to establish an endowment fund that supports and promotes arts education for elementary school children. “Every elementary school child has a right to quality arts education opportunities,” said Sorenson, who is the founder of Art Works for Kids.

  • On March 6, 2006, the Sorenson Legacy Foundation donated $1 million to Southern Utah University (SUU) to endow a permanent chair in its College of Education. The gift, which creates the first endowed chair in the university’s history, will promote elementary arts education at SUU, which is renowned for its teacher education programs.

  • On December 12, 2005, Beverley Sorenson donated $1.25 million to the University of Utah’s College of Fine Arts to endow a permanent chair in its School of Music. The chair will be named the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Presidential Endowed Chair for Elementary Music Education.


  • On November 4, 2004, Sorenson Media and the Sorenson Legacy Foundation donated $5 million to Gallaudet University in Washington, DC, the world's leading institution for higher education of the deaf and hard-of-hearing.
