- On June 15, 2006, James LeVoy Sorenson donated $1 million dollars in matching funds to the state of Utah to forestall an impending public health crisis when funding for Medicaid’s dental care program was not extended by the state legislature. The Medicaid dental program helps the state’s neediest and most vulnerable citizens cover the cost of such treatment as root canals, extractions and fillings.

On April 28, 2004, The Sorenson Group's Rosecrest Inc. donated $400,000 for a 1,000-seat, outdoor performing arts pavilion in Herriman, Utah. The W&M Butterfield Park centerpiece includes stage, dressing rooms and covered seating.
